The Knowing Him discipleship model does not require you to be a skilled Bible teacher. We provide a simple format in which the group facilitates the study time by simply asking six questions. Absolutely anyone can disciple an individual or group following our model!
What's The Model?
Our discipleship model may consist of any small group, ranging from two people to twenty. It can be a men’s or women’s group, a mixed group, adults or youth. It can meet once a week, once every two weeks or even once a month. (Once a week or once every two weeks is what we would suggest.)
Beginning
Like most small group meetings, the Knowing Him meeting begins with fellowship, sharing and prayer. You can use this time to meet and share personal application of the teaching of Christ that was studied at the previous week’s meeting. It is an opportunity to keep each other accountable to the action steps talked about from the previous week’s study.
Study Time
You will notice how our studies have a special insight. This can be read on your own or as a group. It just depends on what you prefer. The study time begins with reading the selected statement of Christ in its context. This means you will want to read the verses before or after the statement of Christ.
Our studies help you fully integrate the words of Christ. They help you think it through more thoroughly. One of the tools we especially encourage are the six questions presented in the “S.P.E.C.K.S.” format.
S.P.E.C.K.S QUESTIONS
These questions help you and those you are discipling dig deeper in the words of Christ. They are as follows:
S. Are there any sins that we should try to avoid?
P. Are there any implied or stated promises of Christ?
E. Is there an “example” to follow in the context that surrounds this statement of Christ?
C. Are there any implied or stated commands of Christ?
K. What knowledge have I gained that I should begin to apply to my life?
S. What’s the “spirit” of this statement?
